OUR FUNDS GUIDE

Funds are how your money is invested in the stock market. When you have established your attitude to risk you can then select the funds you wish to invest in. Read our funds guide below.

WHAT ARE FUNDS?

There are many different funds. Some are invested in the raw materials that make the things we use every day, some in precious metals, in manufacturing companies, services, or in property. Some called ‘trackers’ aim to track the performance of a particular index as the FTSE 100 Index.

Funds vary according to level of risk and potential returns. You should be able to invest for at least 5 years due to the ups and downs of the stock market.

Stock market investments do have the potential to deliver higher returns than a cash ISA or ordinary savings accounts, especially over the medium to long-term however savings accounts do provide security with easier access and steady growth. You should make sure you have provisions for your short-term needs.

What’s a Portfolio?

A portfolio is a collection of shares in different companies or funds. To reduce risk, investors usually build a portfolio of different funds rather than just holding one. The wider the range of funds you have the less you rely on the success of one particular fund or company.

We offer a variety of portfolios that have been designed to reflect different attitudes to risk and potential reward.
